Folding stool

The folding stool, with a metal frame consisting of two aluminium bars, is 39 cm high. It is attached to a square textile seating surface measuring 31.0 x 22.0 cm. The red, white and blue striped material has two straps for attaching to the metal bars: the seating area is spanned when the frame is opened. The folding stool is an especially light piece of furniture due to its extremely functional design and the aluminium and textile materials. It hardly took up any space on a journey and could be transported everywhere. It was often used in the GDR in gardens, on campsites and for fishing. Such folding stools were manufactured in the 1970s/1980s as factory designs by VEB Kombinat Sportgeräte Schmalkalden, among others.
