Written postcard with the motif of the FDGB holiday ship "Fritz Heckert"

The 10.0 x 14.5 cm postcard presents the FDGB holiday ship “Fritz Heckert”. The sailor Reitersleben used the card to arrange a meeting with his wife. It was stamped on 18.09.1963 and was franked with a 10-Pfennig stamp with a portrait of Walter Ulbricht. The sender reveals that he is a seaman of the GDR navy, since “Hohe Düne” in Warnemünde was the headquarters of the Fourth Flotilla of the Volksmarine and the indicated PO-box number (538) refers to Base II of the GDR navy. The postcard was produced by Gebr. Garloff KG in Magdeburg. The former photography studio had been founded in 1911. From the 1930s, it produced postcards and other printed matter.
