Serviettes

The white paper serviette with a diameter of 12.0 cm comes from Hotel Lunik in Eisenhüttenstadt. Round serviettes with a wavy edge were used in hotels and restaurants as coasters for glasses and saucers. They were available in different colours and with a range of prints. They also served as advertising if they presented the name of the hotel or restaurant. Holidaymakers liked taking the serviettes home with them as mementos and collect them from different locations. Such souvenirs cost nothing and were easy to transport. Their simple and above all flat form, as well as their attractive design, made them very suitable to stick in photo albums, adding a touch of colour to the mostly black & white photographs.
