Travel magazine

Popular magazines such as “Reise-Information”, “Reisen 77/78” and “Kurorte”

Popular magazines such as “Reise-Information” (36.0 x 25.0 cm), “Reisen 77/78” (30.7 x 23.3 cm) and “Kurorte” (30.7 x 21.8 cm) served as holiday inspiration, helping to choose or book specific trips. They were also colourful light reading, travel guides and catalogues, with descriptions of offers and prices. Since GDR citizens could only travel abroad to other Socialist countries, the magazines only presented such trips. Magazines provided general information and, depending on the publication, specifics on the different types of travel programme, e.g. city visits, health trips and riverboat journeys. Some also included charts of different trips with code numbers, included meals, travel dates, means of transport and prices. Most travel magazines were published by the GDR travel agency.
