travel guide on Czechoslovakia
The 156-page, 21.8 x 11.5 cm travel guide on Czechoslovakia presents facts on the country, with practical travel information and 46 black & white map sketches. It describes the natural environment, history, industry, customs law, currency exchanges and accommodation. There was typical travel advice on hotspots such as Prague and Bratislava, as well as the Vltava and Elbe regions. All transport routes are also described. The travel guide was produced in 1976 by the Prague publisher Olympia. Czechoslovakia is presented as an especially beautiful holiday destination, with a wealth of sights and cultural highlights. Indeed, Czechoslovakia was one of the most popular countries for GDR citizens: aside from its beauty, from 1972 onwards, it was possible to travel there without a visa.
